Dear artists and friends
We have been delighted by the response to and participation in our first No Jury No Prize Exhibition. We welcome you to participate in our upcoming the Symposium No Jury, No Prize that will be held this Saturday Nov 2nd at the Playhouse Theatre at 1.30pm. The event is facilitated by Culture Company in collaboration with The London Street Gallery, the Playhouse and the Glasgow School of Art, with support from Visual Arts Ireland, Art Take Part, NU Print and The Public Health Agency. We will begin with presentations from Dr Ken Neil, Head of Research at the Glasgow School of Art and Dr Francis McKee, tutor on the MFA in Fine Art at the school and Director of the CCA gallery in Glasgow. Glasgow of course won the 1990 European City of Culture and has established itself as a central location of creativity in Europe. Their insights on culture and legacy should hopefully prove informative as our city approaches the conclusion to its year as UK City of Culture. Following the presentations, we will develop the debate on fostering art, creativity and change through an open floor discussion. We hope this will be a fruitful event where we can develop our thinking on the future of art and change within the city. Following the 2 hour event we will have an opportunity to network and enjoy refreshments kindly provided by The Sandwich Company. We look forward to your participation in what promises to be an inspiring and unmissable event, dedicated to our artists and those interested in supporting the future profile and platform of visual arts in the City beyond 2013. |
