Alan Kane Launches Craft Month from London Street Gallery
Alan Kane, Craft NI Chief Executive, having taken up his post last September, excited by developments in the Maiden City culminating in the launch of CultureCraft.
He said: “This is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious craft exhibitions ever to be staged in Northern Ireland and one of the hidden gems of this year’s City of Culture celebrations. I would urge everyone to come along and view the work of some of Ireland’s most outstanding designer makers. One of my main goals when taking over this post was to help create an infrastructure and a culture of collaboration where craft can grow and thrive in all parts of Northern Ireland. It is very inspiring to see how people are grasping the opportunity in Derry/Londonderry to develop the craft industry in this most important year for the city.”

Eamonn O'Doherty "A Man for All Mediums" opens
Deputy Mayor Alderman Gary Middleton
To a very enthusiastic and well versed audience our much anticipated Man for All Mediums show - a collection of works by Eamonn O'Doherty opened on Saturday the 31st August. The scale and ambition of the show is breathtaking, and the range of works - from woodblock prints, watercolours, oils and 18 bronzes must make it one of the visual arts highlights of the City of Culture Year.
We would urge everyone to come and see work by one of Derry~Londonderry's foremost artists, we are a public gallery and are very keen to help or give you a tour of the works if you desire.

A man for All Mediums - a show we have been really privileged to host
From the irreverent sardonic wit of the bishops, the Pas de Deus, and the Carroll's art prize pictures, to the beauty of the tour de force sculpture of a stag, to te technical brilliance of the woodcut prints, we have been completely bowled over by the work we were privileged enough to have on show and from the staggering response from the audience.
I think we have had our collective eyes opened to one of Derry's unsung heroes, and now many of us are left wishing that we missed the chance to meet and chat with such a great man.
We hope this will not be the last major show of Eamonn's work in Derry - certainly the response of over 1000 people in three weeks would suggest that it should not.
